About
Joan Wenzel received a BFA in Interior Design from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY in 1967. She worked in New York City for Massimo and Lella Vignelli at Unimark on various projects before relocating to Boston, MA to start the design firm JW Inc. with her husband Jim. Clients included Polaroid, Wang and Dexter Shoe and projects included exhibit, retail and residential design. In addition they owned and operated a seasonal gallery and country store in Boothbay Harbor, ME for 15 years before settling in Western MA. While Jim then became a partner in a welding company with his nephew, Joan re-kindled her love for interior renovation design and took on select clients and projects which are featured here.
Joan has personally lived through four of her own renovations of varying scale and variety. These experiences have given her an acute understanding of what it takes to maximize your space while communicating with the construction trades to make these renovations livable and seamless. The results prove to add functionality and ease to spaces that become undoubtably more productive and ultimately more enjoyable.
